History and Scenic Beauty
Gufuskálar has a rich history since first settlers came to Iceland over 1000 years ago. Through the middle ages it was one of they key fishing centers in the area where rowing boats would go out daily to catch the cod that lives just off the coastline. Signs of village ruins may be found all over the area which nature is reclaiming slowly but surely.
The views from the apartments are great with ocean view on one side and the lava fields and Snæfellsjökull Glacier on the other side. Gufuskálar sits about 2.5 km from the nearest village so light pollution is at a minimum for viewing norther lights in the winter.

Apartment Location
The closest supermarkets are Kassinn in Ólafsvík (10 min. drive) and a smaller one, Hraðbúð N1 in Hellissandur (3 min. drive). Keep in mind to check the opening hours of services in the area before coming. Snæfellsbær is a small community, home to about 1700 people.
